Cold Frosty Morn

Here’s a lonesome slow piece in Fmin tuning. Take it slow and play it outside on a chilly day for best effect.

Performance Notes

Take this one slow and let the notes ring as clearly and long as possible.

The + sign in bar 7 indicates a note choked or pulled a little sharp. These microtonal bends mimic the sound of a fretless banjo (or fiddle). And yes, I have made myself a fretless uke to play these tunes – just take a spare uke, preferably concert or tenor size and pull off the frets carefully with pliers. Fill the fret grooves with saw dust and wood glue and you’re done.

Bar 16 shoes a slide marked S. Hammer-ons are marked H and pull-offs P. Drop thumbs are denoted by T.

These and all the other techniques are covered in detail in my online classes.
