Clawhammer Uke Retreats

Once this virus situation passes I shall be starting Ukulele Retreats on our farm in the sunny Algarve, Portugal. These will be weeklong music events. You can choose to stay at a local hotel or brave the donkeys and horses and stay in a cottage or caravan on the farm.

There will be ukulele group lessons every morning, leaving you free to explore the Algarve in the afternoons. There are hundreds of orange trees to sit under and a small plunge pool to help you cool off. Laze in a hammock with a cool drink or visit nearby medieval Silves (10 min drive), the incredible beaches (15 min drive) or local mountains (30 min drive).

Individual lessons can also be arranged in the afternoons and there will be informal jam sessions every evening in the yurt.

The first camp will focus on American Old Time Music played in clawhammer style on the ukulele. It is aimed to those who can play at least some chords on the uke and read tablature.

The first camp will be limited to ten playing attendees, we can offer self catering accommodation on the farm for six.

Ukuleles can be provided if you don’t wish to fly in with your own.
